best glock 17 mag extension

Best Glock 17 Mag Extension - Strike Industries is known for cheap pistol and carbine parts and accessories. When looking for a new test magazine extension, I was intrigued by both their construction materials and mounting solutions. To see how it compares to the competition, I picked one up myself and put it to the test.

Installing the Strike Industries extension is easy, but requires some tools. First, disassemble the OEM magazine and replace the retainer with the included Strike spring. Reinsert the magazine spring and slide the extension into the magazine housing. Then screw in the L-shaped locking plate so that the hook part of the plate faces the magazine side. After inserting the locking screw to secure the locking plate, tighten it to the magazine.

The Glock 17 weighs just 3.4 ounces when attached to the magazine. Especially compared to the Dawson Precision extender, this light weight will be noticeable on the belt and on the gun. Because of its light weight, the magazine sometimes fails to drop freely if the pistol is pointed too horizontally during reloading. I won't compare it to the Strike Industries expansion as it can easily be fixed by changing the technique that should be done first.

Strike Industries says this extension will fit an additional 6 rounds of 9mm in the standard Glock magazine. This is not my experience. During testing, I was able to put in 5 extra 9mm rounds before reaching maximum capacity. It supports the same extension as almost all competitors I use, which make similar claims.

The development of the Strike Industries magazine is hidden from view. Made entirely of polymer, the extension has a matte finish with a smooth texture around the edges and a slight bump on the sides. A stylish little "SI" is printed on the front of the extension, so everyone knows who you're talking to. The top edges of the extension are slightly beveled for Magwell compatibility, but the relatively thin polymer helps with that.

All magazine extensions pass the drop test until I trust my belt. The parameters are simple. Each magazine is fully loaded and dropped five times from shoulder height onto concrete. The marker drops straight into the extension as if fired from a shotgun. The first drop fell without a hitch. On the second drop, the extension came out of the magazine and the OEM follower fell in half. I got a new follower from another magazine and added the extension again. Drops three, four, and five continue without any problems and don't do much damage to the draw.

About 1,200 rounds of ammunition were distributed through this magazine between classes and regular hours. I have seen rain, dust storms and bright sunshine. So far I haven't had any issues directly with this magazine or extension while shooting. However, I have an administrative complaint. Over the past few months, I've started to notice a weakness in spring magazines. This causes bullet lift when manually unloading bullets and incorrect witness hole readings when counting bullets. So far it doesn't seem to affect performance at startup, but I'm worried that might change.

When reattaching the extension, I accidentally put the locking tab back, making the extension less secure. However, during last year's tests, it performed without problems. However, the locking plate is a little noisy in this position, but this does not affect those who install it correctly.

The development of Strike Industries magazine has completely exceeded my expectations. At first I thought it would break quickly due to the thin nature of the plastic body. Even more impressively, despite the misaligned locking plate, the extension's safety is only user error. I'm not sure about the longevity of the magazine spring, but it seems like a good choice for training and competition.

Glock 43 Magazine Extension +4 Rounds Mag Extender Hold 10 Capacity Base Plate

The magazine extensions sell individually for $39.99, but you get a discount if you buy them in a three-pack. You can also get a Glock magazine kit with extensions already installed for $59.99 or a CZ P10 magazine with extensions installed for $72.99.

Custom kerato options are available, and a removable base plate makes for easy maintenance and adjustment. The large grooves on the side of the extension are perfect for pulling levers when needed.

Installing the magazine extensions is very easy (see photo below and video above), all you need is the two hex keys that come with the magazine. Remove the factory base plate and spring, then attach the +10% power spring that comes with the Shield Arms extension to the mount. Then slide the extender into the magazine housing, reinsert the retainer, and spring tighten the retaining pin that prevents the extension from sliding out of the magazine housing. Finally, compress the spring with your fingers, push the base pad into the extension and tighten the end screw. Everything is ready.

Grip Extension Adapter For Glock 17 To 19

I have noticed that all Glock and CZ extensions have true +5 capacity ie. A 15 round Glock 19 or CZ P10c/P07 magazine will give the pistol a 20+1 except for 20 rounds. The 17 ammo Glock magic will now give you 22+1 for the 22 ammo badge and weapon. The 19 round CZ magazine will now be a 24 round magazine.

My experience with these magazine extensions has been very positive. I bought three more to upgrade my 15 round CZ magazine to a 20 round magazine so I would spend less time loading during training and give myself a competitive edge in my unit if I ever use these guns in competition.

I have never had any power issues, magazine issues, or any crashes while using these magazine extensions. The aftermarket springs were very well made and did not affect the recoil or performance of the gun at all. The only problem I had was ordering the very shiny gold Glock 19X magazine attachments and trying to use them indoors. After reloading a few times, falling on a hard floor resulted in shiny mag extensions. I contacted Shield Arms to return it to check the specs and they sent black anodized extensions which have worked great ever since. The most likely explanation is that the unique blend of keracote was too even for the playing forces, so if you shoot a lot of matches indoors, you might want to have less color. By the way, I haven't had this problem with any of the other extensions available.

In any case, Shield Arms offers a lifetime warranty on these extensions and their customer service is excellent when you need it. Stay with me
