This is a truly unique and absolutely "one of a kind" revolver that was used by Arthur Bremmer in the assassination attempt on then Governor George Wallace of Alabama. Included with this historic revolver are numerous documents, police reports, hospital records and a 9-page Prince George's County police investigative report corroborating the crime and confirming that this particular gun was used in the assassination attempt. It is also accompanied by a copy of the receipt from the "Casanova Gun" store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Bremmer purchased the gun. In May 1972, Governor Wallace was on a campaign trail as one of the Democratic candidates for President of the United States and was shot and killed after giving a campaign speech in Laurel Maryland. He was hit twice, with one bullet hitting his spine, paralyzing him for life from the waist down. Governor Wallace was a staunch Democrat and populist in Alabama who served as governor for four (non-consecutive) terms and who strongly opposed racial integration and mandatory busing in the state. Perhaps the most infamous act for which he is so famous was standing on the steps of the University of Alabama's Foster Auditorium to stop the federally mandated integration of public schools in the South. To ensure the schools' racial integration, President John Kennedy ordered the 2nd Infantry Division to maintain order and enforce integration. In September 1963, he tried to do the same, trying to prevent four black children from being enrolled in segregated schools. However, he was stopped by a federal court order and the children were allowed inside. He later ran for the Democratic (or independent) candidate for President of the United States on four separate occasions; 1964, 1968 (with then retired General Curtis Lemay), then 1972 (where he was shot) and again in 1976. He was defeated on all four occasions. Later in life, he completely renounced segregation and embraced racial integration. He died in September 1998 of septic shock caused by a bacterial infection. As mentioned, the pistol is a very small five-shot pocket revolver with a round stock. It is bluish with smooth walnut handles. The left side of the frame was scratched/etched with "RAI/5-15-72", the exact date Secret Service agent Robert A. Innamorati handed the revolver to FBI agents Joseph Slaughter and George Sinclair. The right side of the frame is stamped with the serial number "104347". The same serial number 104347 is on a copy of the sales receipt when Bremmer bought it from a gun store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sold Price: Charter Arms Undercover .38 Spl, Revolver W/ Box

Very good with a 95% plus blue finish with minor edges and lots of spotty wear, with a few scrapes and scratches on the side of the cylinder where it hit the ground when mounted away from the Bremmer. The walnut handles are in very good condition with a dark red color on both sides with small traces from handling. Mechanically perfect. A completely unique and somewhat "notorious" historical revolver.
