The Tongva village of Motuucheyngna is located on the seal beach in what is now the Los Cerritos wetlands. It is part of the larger area of Puvungna, the main ceremonial and regional trade center of Tongwa and Acjachem. Villagers used the river to travel to Pimu (Santa Catalina Island) and other coastal islands, now known as the Channel Islands.
In 2003, a village cemetery at Hellman Ranch, a 196-acre (79-hectare) Seal Beach estate, was demolished over opposition from Tonga.
Beginning in the mid-1860s, the area east of what is now Old Town Seal Beach was known as the Anaheim Pier. A barn and dock were built on the cove of Anaheim Creek, which flows into the Pacific Ocean. In the newly formed city of Anaheim, farmers and merchants wanted a closer, safer port to ship their wine and the supplies they needed to build their homes and buildings in the new town.
For many years, Anaheim Landing's freight volume approached that of San Pedro, but the opening of the railroad in Anaheim in 1875 made it easier to use wagons to move products by rail over the 12 miles of soft soil. Landing However, Anaheim Landing, with its beaches and surrounding areas, has become a popular respite from hot summer days at this time. Los Angeles newspapers report a summer population of more than 400, with more on special days.

Throughout the year, the landing site is home to several fishing boats, including local fishing grounds. This work was written by Nobel laureate Herik Sikevich in a short essay titled "The Crane".
Since selling land in Anaheim and Huntington Beach in 1903, Los Angeles realtor Philip A. Stanton is known for representing the local real estate interests of banker (and Pacific Electric Railroad) Isaiah W. Hellman. , to form a consortium to build Anaheim Marina and Bay City on the east side of Anaheim Bay and Alamitos Bay.
The new city will follow an as-yet-unannounced line that Pacific Electric runs from Long Beach to Newport Beach. Since there was already a city in Northern California's Bayside (designed by Eureka), Stanton's team named the new city Bay City. Competition from other coastal resorts (Long Beach, Redondo Beach, and Vice/Ocean Park/Santa Monica), financial crises in some countries, and the 1906 San Francisco earthquake made it more profitable to invest in construction due to a number of factors. SAN FRANCISCO - Failed as a Bay City real estate investor.
In 1913, Stanton chose the site for real estate developer Guy M. Rush, who invested in a pier with gazebos on either side. Rush also named the town Seal Beach, which he advertised through postcards and advertisements. This too failed, and in early 1915 he was defeated in the Russian elections. In 1915, Stanton planned to take some of the fun out of the closing Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco and rebuild part of a new amusement park called the Joy Strip.

As part of this plan, the Bayside Land Company led a campaign to annex the town (October 27, 1915), and the new town council approved legal liquor in the town. This sets it apart from Pike in Long Beach, a "dry town". The Joy Strip, a seaside county park established in 1916, was Orange County's first park.
It enjoyed a short-lived popularity, but the U.S. experimented with World War I, and rubber and metal restraints had a profound effect on the region.
After the war, Prohibition affected the town's value as a resort. After 1920, the town's many drinking establishments on two bays, small police force, and location on the county line made it a popular spot for gossip and gamblers. From 1928 to 1939, there were about half a dozen casinos on the city's Main Street. Additionally, many of Southern California's notable fishing boats (Anna Smith, Rose Isle, Anna Smith II, SS Calite, SS Tango, Showboat, Mt. Baker) operate at Seal Beach near Long Beach.
The trial took place at City Hall on the grounds that gambling was illegal and that the Seal Beach jury never returned a guilty verdict, much to the dismay of Orange County and Long Beach officials. But in 1941, following Attorney General Earl Warr's massive crackdown on gamblers, Seal Beach and many of the boats were filled by former Los Angeles police officer William L. Robertson.

Early 1944. During World War II, the Navy purchased most of the land around the Anaheim Pier as a U.S. Navy Naval Weapons Station, which loaded, unloaded, and stored munitions for the Pacific Fleet, primarily for the purchase of U.S. Navy ships. He has homes in Long Beach and San Diego. With the closure of the Concord Naval Weapons Station in Northern California, it has become the main source of most of the ammunition for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
The arrival of the Navy, which stimulated a population boom, successfully closed Robertson's gambling.
Surfing at Seal Beach has always been a draw. A newspaper ad featuring surfers was part of Guy M. Rush's 1913 Seal Beach campaign. The city hosts the continent's first surf competition at the annual Minnesota Picnic Private Meeting. But its popularity began with the arrival of second-in-command Blakey August, who taught local kids to surf. August's son Robert is a couple in classic surf movies. Boots Jack Halley and Mike Halley won the first two National Surf Championships.
